It is proven that homicide rates sky-rocketed between 1963 and 1972 when the death penalty was abolished. And since it has been reinstated in the early 1990's the number of homicides has drastically decreased.
Another reason that people argue the death penalty for is the fact that there isn't any other satisfactory alternative. Life imprisonment isn't always life-long and it stills allows governors to pardon prisoners. The death penalty is not only final but also follows The Code of Hammurabi with taking an eye for an eye. Many people believe that the survival of murderers is not only unjust but morally wrong to allow a killer to live after taking another person's life.
Looking at all of this, many people believe in the execution in murderers.
I agree it is an eye for an eye. No body has the right to kill someone and get away with it. A lot of times criminals get off with out life imprisonment and some are pardoned.
ReplyDeleteAre there any other rates that sky-rocketed between 1963 and 1972. Perhaps there is another correlation that could be made?
ReplyDeleteoooooo dude - you forgot to turn on your comment moderation.
ReplyDeleteimagine something bad here - oh no!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with eye for an eye to a certain extent.
ReplyDeleteya if a person kills someone they should die to its not fair to the victims family they have to suffer with the death of a family member but the murdered gets to go to jail for a period of time and then get out which isnt fair.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a very strong topic and everyone has their opinion. I believe that no one should kill another person for the fun of it, so I believe in eye for an eye.
ReplyDeleteThis is a strong topic.
ReplyDeleteYes i think if some one kills another human that did not deserve to die, i do think they should get the death penalty it wouldn't be fair to the victims family that there son/daughter dies when the murderer gets to live in jail.
